09 Mar 09 retro Aprons
How many parents have witnessed their children gleefully making lots of curious treasures for mum and dad. There are many children who do these projects and bring them home. One thing that all of these children have in common is the fact that most of them will be wearing a kitchen apron at the same time!
A kids apron is incredibly useful for children’s activities, particularly as most of these types of pursuits are very messy! The best type of children’s apron is one which goes over the head and then ties at the back as it secures itself in place and is less likely to come off. There are some types covering more of the child that go over the head and have a solid front and back with side fasteners.
There are many different designs and styles for Children’s aprons. Making your own is often the most economical option available. You can conjure up quite a unique project and personalize it to your own child because an apron is one of the easiest sewing tasks to undertake. Child aprons can have various designs such as the actual hand prints of your child, your child’s name, or their favorite nursery rhyme or cartoon character. Even if you are not an artist, you can give your apron a personal touch with transfers or prints available from most craft shops that you can apply to the finished apron.
Also there are times when your small child begs to aid you in the kitchen. In that situation, you’ll really want an apron! Actually, the entire kitchen should have an apron! Sometimes it is a lot of fun to imitate Mum and wear a kitchen apron to do the cooking.
Seeing how most good chefs on the TV are men, this would be a great area for boys - or girls! A girl will prefer just about anything on her apron as long as it is ‘girly’, your boy may prefer something like a picture of ‘Shrek’ on his. Regardless of the situation, make sure an apron is available for your child should he become untidy.
